Birthday ideas and more swimming lessons

KCs 2nd Birthday is next month & me and the Hubby have been bumping heads on themes, I say Oswald he says Wonder Pets. I say Im doing this thing so your vote doesnt count! I like doing different things, and KC does like Oswald the best so Oswald it is. I have already talked to my cake lady about a Oswald cake and I have some ideas for favors & some decorations but Im looking for some help here. If anyone has and birthday ideas, or anything that you do to make the day easier please share your tips. I have been searching the internet high & low for ideas, and so far I have come up with centerpieces for the tables, and thats about it. I know I can tie a sea theme in there but hmmmm I dont know. Last year was a Fun at One theme with basketballs, firetrucks, & planes. I did the colors all primary colors and it turned out really cute. I got some cute Teleflora firetruck planters off ebay and made signs fir the bed area of the truck with KCs picture and the #1. I made homemade basketball cookies for favors. I love decorating and party planning, I made all my own wedding invitations and I make alot of the decorations for all my parties and events. I need to be paid to be a planner, that would be my picture perfect job!

KC started another week of swim lessons today, and hes the only boy in the whole class. Hes surrounded by girls!. He was a little upset but I think it was from all the drama queens that were sitting next to him. Once again he was the youngest there, but he swam better than any of the girls in his group. One little girl didnt want to get in at all, so she kept getting up and running away. One time the little girl kept running circles around the pool & Mrs. Jeannie couldnt catch her so Mrs. Katie had to get out so the could corner her, and then she took off through the grass. Once she was finally corralled she kicked and screamed the whole way in the pool, and then some more once Mrs. Jeannie put her back on the side. Shes a firecracker for sure, so this week should be a hoot.

Hope everyone has a great week! And please send me any birthday tips, Thanks!

One small kick for KC

Todays lesson went good, I officially have a kicker! He will be swimming like a fish by Friday for sure. Today all the younger kids learned to jump in from the edge, and KC made a running leap one time and pretty much belly flopped. He really has been a comical little guy through the tears. I dont have time to write much tonight, because I am actually tired for a change so Im going to bed early. Im gonna try to upload a few videos from today, hopefully it works.

Lesson #2....Dont take a tired baby to swim lessons

Day 2

Today was a ok day at swim lessons, KC woke up early to go to school at 8am the to swim at 10am. He didnt go to bed last night so he was very tired today. So tired that not even half way through the class he started yawning, then his eyes got heavy, and by the end he was laying on the side of the pool on his stomach with his head on his hands. Of course I left me camera and phone in the car, and once the parents are in the screen theres no coming out until the end of class. Hes holding his breath really good, but hes wasnt kicking his feet. When he goes under he crosses his ankles and tucks them in to his butt, its so funny to watch. The last to turns he had he finally started kicking. He cried off & on, when Ms. Katie would put him back on the ledge after his turn he would clap his hands while he was crying. It was the sweetest, saddest thing ever. Nan went with us today and Hubby even showed up, with a entirely different attitude I might add. Super surprised me but Im glad he was there. KC might end up going for lessons again next week, I will find out if they have room for him tomorrow.

Heres a snap from my phone of my tired boy on the way home this afternoon.

Lesson # 1.....Dont take Daddy to swim lessons!

Oh my gosh! This was day number 1 of KCs week long swim lessons and I was so worried how it was going to go for KC and me I didnt even think about Hubby coming. He decided yesterday he was going to come this morning and lord help I wish he wouldve just stayed home. Talking about a Debbie Downer! He immediately starts off with the negative comments "Hes to young for this", "I cant believe youre making him do this" "He cant even talk, hows he gonna understand to kick", "This is so stupid", "This is so dumb ", "Youre so mean", "Hes not old enough for this yet", "Hes cryin because your mean", etc. etc. etc. It is mean and cruel, but the lesson is only 45mins. and this same family has been teaching kids to swim for over 30 years in our community, so they know what they are doing obviously. KC was the youngest in his class and he was fine until the other kids started bawling, then he joined the party. He didnt cry the whole time, and he sat on the edge of the pool and waited his turn without getting up once. It was hard to watch and atleast twice I covered my eyes so I didnt have to look. Ms. Katie, one of his teachers said he did very good for being so young, and that on the count of 3 he held his breath every time. She also said by Wednesday the tears would be gone. Lets see if thats holds true or not. Needless to say, Hubby is not coming back until Friday if he comes back at all. BooHoo! Depending of how he does this week, we may come back next week too. I say we but what I really mean is I, the mean old Mama will force that innocent lil boy to come back to those dreadful swimming lessons.

My camera batteries were dead this morning to, so I didnt get any pictures from today. Not that I wanted any, it was pretty pitiful! Well try again tomorrow.
